Family Medicine “Treating your family like my own…”
Although family practice as a specialty has been around for 50 years, it has recently been described as “primary care”- that is, the place you go to first. When Dr. Bolin was a youngster, both of the doctors who took care of him were family doctors – “general practictioners.” These “old-fashioned” doctors did everything from deliver babies to take care of grandma and grandpa. This is the same kind of training Dr. Bolin received, and it remains his philosophy today. Although he no longer delivers babies, Dr. Bolin can care for all patients from infants to great-grandparents. Whether it is yearly physicals, keeping your immunizations up to date, checking your skin for early signs of cancer, or ordering and evaluating your blood work and treating conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol, the family doctor is the one who knows and cares for your whole family. For those patients who see multiple specialists for care of their complex problems, Dr. Bolin serves as the one who keeps an over-view your health and keeps your care coordinated. When this time to refer you to specialist, you will be sent to the same doctors he would send his own family to.
